Pashmina wool is obtained from the fleece of a rare goat, the Changthangi goat which is found in Ladakh. The shawls and scarves fashioned out of it are famous for their richly soft texture that feels very gentle on the skin. To add to the beauty of this already breathtaking pure Pashmina shawl, Sozni embroidery has been done on it. A technique of needle point embroidery that has its roots in the valley of Kashmir, Sozni is a 500-year-old artform that continues to adorn many Pashmina accessories.
The same is done here on this piece. In a jalidar pattern, intricate floral vines are embroidered all over the shawl. Bright colours like red and coral are used for the fine embroidery.
