Uppada sarees have always found patronage among the rich and famous, beginning with the ruling families of the region. These were usually made with a cotton warp using only non-mechanical techniques, but due to the upgraded technology and demands, they have also found their way in silk and cotton-silk textiles. It got its name from a small beach town of Uppada in Andhra Pradesh and is woven using the old Jamdani method in unique and creative designs.
