In the Atisha tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, the goddess of compassion Tara is evoked in her 21 forms. These forms of Tara are expansions of Green Tara, which is the embodiment of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshwara’s benevolence. These forms of Tara are revered while chanting the verses dedicated to them and are present here in the gilded copper Nepalese statues of 21 Taras. Each form is delineated with finesse and unique attributes, to help the devotee visualize and worship them and earn merits in different aspects of life.
