The conchshell is of ritual importance in Hindu culture. Known in the vernacular as shankha, it is the shapely shell of a sea snail and demands a special embouchure when blown. The pristine body of the conchshell bears overtones of distinct ivory. The concentric curls on its head bear long,angular serrations. There is a fishtail carved on one side of the conchshell; on the other, a floral motif. A hemmed-in band of angled serrations right where the shell begins to taper.
