Sitatapatra or Ushnishasitatapatra is a mighty Buddhist goddess who emerged from the Ushnisha or cranial protuberance of Gautama Buddha, for protection and guidance of the followers of dhamma. The masterpiece copper Ushnishasitatapatra statue from Nepal presents the goddess trampling on the innumerable obstacles in the path of dhamma while holding a long white parasol, her distinguishing attribute. The multiple hands of Sitatapatra are delineated with artistic perfection, in such a way that all the hands appear to be natural extensions of her lithesome body.
