Kavara Vilakkus, or branching lamps, are prominent illumination devices found in Kerala temples. Because of their history as the traditional lighting system for Kathakali performances, they are frequently referred to as Kathakali lamps. These are brass lamps with disc-shaped oil basins that lack wicks. The number of oil discs might range from one to several depending on the occasion for which the lamp will be used. This brass Kavara Vilakku has three oil basins that are frequently utilized for lighting in front of the god after dusk. These lamps, in addition to providing light, also preserve ancient craftsmanship. The modest form of these lamps adds to their appeal and helps them to find a place in the worship places.
