The seven-limbed pooja is an integral part of Buddhist ritual worship. It comprises making a composite offering of seven different elements, in keeping with the tradition of giving alms to wandering mendicants. In ritual worship, each of these offerings are put into a set of seven bowls which you see on this page. Fashioned from copper and finished with gold filigree, each of the bowls is designed to contain an offering of a particular nature.

The nature of the offerings, besides the integral presence of light (alokhe), are water for drinking (argham), water for washing (padhyam), flowers (pushpe), incense (dhupe), perfume (gendhe), edibles (nedhye), and sound (shabta). Each of these offerings have their own symbolism in Buddhist life and make one’s sadhana replete. These offering bowls come with broad, gold-rimmed mouths and a flowy single-leg base. Lined in a gentle curve afore the icons in your altar, these handpicked offering bowls from Nepal are sure to uplift the aesthetics of your poojan-kaksha.

Zoom in on each of the bowls to take in the beauty of the workmanship. The outer body is coated with superfine gold filigree, the patterns reminiscent of a tropical evergreen growth. The same are punctuated by diamond-shaped panels of auspicious symbols filled in with solid proportions of gold. The whole mud-and-gold bitone colour palette lends an aura of solemnity to the ritual implement composition.
