This is the symbol of Om. It is the most sacred eternal sound in Indian religions. It represents the universal soul, which is the god itself. Om is also written as ‘Aum’. This sound is present everywhere and its symbol can be found in all ancient scriptures, texts, prayers and also in all Hindu temples. Aum is made up of four elements; where the first three, ‘A’, ‘U’ and ‘M’ are the vocal sounds. ‘A’ means unconscious mind (deep sleep or death), ‘U’ means conscious state (having active five senses) and ‘M’ represents the dreamy state (One between deep sleep and waking). The fourth one is the sound which is unheard, silence that begins and ends the chant. It is represented by the small bindi at the top showing pure consciousness. Om is the seed of all creation and signifies love, patience, peace and purity.
This wall hanging is beautifully carved with a three dimensional pattern of small squares, flowers and leaves. It has a thick base and is aesthetically designed highlighting its grace and value.
It is mostly used at entrances, so that the whole area is divinely affected by it. It is indeed a good piece to be kept at home or at work place as it spreads purity, discipline and consciousness.
