Many magical, divine, and priceless objects surfaced from the ocean's depths when the Ksheer Sagar was stirred by Suras and Asuras. One of these was the cow Kamadhenu, a mother figure venerated in Hinduism and capable of bestowing blessings that benefit one beyond the realm of the living. Nandini, Kamadhenu's daughter, who shares these qualities with her mother, is frequently depicted with her calf. In this small copper statue, Nandini is seen sipping milk from the udders as Kamadhenu stands firm, adorned beautifully. Kamadhenu's neck is embellished with a lovely bell.
