This magnificent white marble murti of Parvati as Brahmacharini shows the goddess with an enchanting visage, clad in a beautiful orange saree, a color associated with sages and purity of wisdom. She wears gold ornaments studded with precious jewels, a regal crown behind which is a deific blue aura. While usually shown with just two hands, this particular statue depicts a four-armed goddess, emphasizing her divine status. In her primary hands, Brahmacharini holds a rosary and a Kamandalu (water pot) - both attributes associated with Tapasya (asceticism). Her other two hands have two lotuses serving as the seats for a shiva linga (on her right) and a small image appearing like Ganesh (on her left). The presence of her husband and child in a form related to the goddess’ unmarried and virgin aspect is an artistic scheme used to tell the story of the greatness of goddess Brahmacharini- how her resolve not only converted Shiva into a householder but also succeeded in bringing a child (Ganesh) in the world, starting a family with a God known for having taken the vow of bachelorhood.

5. Polishing
