Devi Parvati, the daughter of Parvata raja Himalaya and Mena Devi is the simplest yet most powerful incarnation of the great mother goddess, the Maha Shakti who is the counterpart of Shiva.
In her most popular representations in Indian art tradition, the goddess is presented as a two-armed heavenly beautiful, young maiden, bestowed with all the exquisiteness of the three realms.
Worshipped alongside Shiva Mahadeva, this form of Devi Parvati is known as Shiva- Kama- Sundari (the beautiful maiden who is the center of Shiva’s passions). In this brass Parvati icon, you get the timeless divinity of Uma Shivakamasundari, perfect to be welcomed in your home shrine.
The goddess stands on a circular lotus platform, in a pleasing “Tribhanga” or triple bent posture. On her head is a high-raising crown, in her ears are circular ear ornaments or Dehri, in her neck two necklaces, armbands, and bracelets in her hands, Yajnopavita (sacred thread) running diagonally on her torso, and a Kuchabandha (breast ornament).
Using clear incised lines, the maker of this brass Parvati has given the goddess a tasteful dhoti (lower body garment) and a delicate girdle. Her right hand dangles on her right in the Lolahasta mudra and her left-hand carry a blossomed lotus flower as an offering to her beloved Mahadeva. Endowed with all the attributes of a classical Uma Parvati statue, this brass icon is a powerful representation of Prakriti- the active female energy that runs the entire Universe.
