This bronze figure in the Chola style is a reimagining of Ardhanarishwara's captivating beauty and holiness. Ardhanarishwara’s shape assumes an elegant stance while standing atop a lotus, which represents the world's beginnings. Shiva's bride, Uma-Parvati, is depicted on the left side as his Vamangi (wife). She is adorned with exquisite jewelry and is wearing a fine dhoti, the folds of which are exquisitely rendered in metal.
Her hair is wrapped in a lengthy Jatamukuta, which she wears with Shiva, who has the crescent moon adorning his tresses. He also has an anklet and bell on his foot in addition to a Makara-shaped earring and a tiger-hide dhoti. This is a special three-armed version of Shiva and Shakti, with Uma gracefully lifting her hand and a two-armed Shiva dangling one hand while holding an Ankusha or goad in the other.
