शुक्लाम्बरधरं विष्णुं शशिवर्णं चतुर्भुजम्
प्रसन्नवदनं ध्यायेत् सर्वविघ्नोपशान्तये
“He who wears pristine white attire is of the color of the moon, four-armed, is ever blissful, I bow down to Him, Vishnu, the all-pervading one.” This verse, at the beginning of Sri Vishnu Sahastranama, evokes the preserver of the Universe, Sri Vishnu in an alluring manner. He is the Supreme, omnipresent, and ever-auspicious Lord, who is revered amongst Vaishnavas as “Perumal”- the powerful one, who reigns over all the activities of the Srishti. The magnificence of Perumal is captured in this gigantic granite stone statue, which towering with grandeur and brilliance.
Placed on a cube platform, Vishnu stands in Sampadasthanaka posture on a lotus, with his left hand placed on his waist in the graceful Katihasta mudra. Kiritamukuta crown and Makara kundela adorn his countenance, and jeweled ornaments embellish his broad torso, which is marked by Srivatsa- the symbol of Sri Lakshmi who resides in Vishnu’s heart as her eternal abode. With impeccable sculpting and detailing, this stunning granite sculpture is an artist’s evocation to Perumal, to come and reside in his artwork and shower earthly beings with the ambrosia of his presence.
