When Buddha asked Manjushri about his wish for enlightenment, he replied that he seeks complete and full enlightenment. He continued by saying that since he perceives no distinction between genuine wisdom and himself, he is not fervently adhering to Enlightenment. With this response, Buddha was extremely happy. Manjushri is seen in Tibetan iconography sitting cross-legged with a sword in his hand that appears to be in motion. He is regarded as having the ability to sever pride and any related ignorance. A similar depiction may be seen on this copper idol, which has Manjushri wearing a crown and exquisite ornaments that enhance his splendor. The Bodhisattva sits unperturbed and concentrated on his mission of purging the world of evil, radiating a cosmic serenity all around.
