In the Southern Part of India, Lord Vishnu is worshipped as Ranganatha. Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple or Thiruvarangam is a Hindu temple, which is dedicated to Ranganatha. In Sanskrit, Ranganatha means “Leader of the place of assembly”. The Word Ranganatha is coined from the two Sanskrit words Ranga (Place) and Natha (Lord or leader).
In this magnificent creation of Bronze, Lord Vishnu, the preserver and sustainer of the universe, relaxing on the coils of Ananta (the World Snake). This iconic depiction symbolises the cosmic order and the cyclical nature of creation, preservation, and destruction. Bhagwan Vishnu’s repose represents the state of cosmic equilibrium, suggesting that even in apparent rest, He remains vigilant and in control. Ananta, representing infinite time and eternity, reinforces the idea of an eternal cosmic cycle. Vishnu’s ethereal presence on Ananta’s coils conveys the interconnectedness of all existence and the divine responsibility of maintaining cosmic harmony.
