Bhaishajyaguru, also referred to as the Medicine Buddha and venerated in Mahayana Buddhism, is a healing manifestation of the Buddha who is blue in colour and serene in aspect. This copper statue depicts Medicine Buddha, holding an Aruna fruit stalk in his right hand which is thought to possess enchanted medicinal qualities. The great teacher is dressed in monastic robes that fall gracefully over his body. Medicine Buddha is admired for his ability to heal both the body and the mind. A person continually experiences mental and physical hardships as they embark on their journey to Nirvana, and with the blessings of Bhaishajyaguru, the obstacles turn into new paths and ailments are dispelled to give way to an energetic inner quest to enlightenment.
