In Hindu mythology Nandi is revered as the sacred bull and vahana of Lord Shiva. It is the gate guardian deity of Kailasha. In Sanskrit etymology, Nandi means happiness, joy and satisfaction. It is opined to be chief guru of eight disciples of Nandinatha Sampradaya; sits here in a sharp poise and the broadened eyes vigilant of any mishap.
