Krishna is Paramatmana- the supreme divine being, who births, nourishes, and restarts the cycles of the Universe. His devotees and Vaishnava Puranas sing the praise of Krishna as not just an aspect or avatar of Vishnu, but Vishnu himself, in all his glory, residing amongst the humans and curing their pains with his ambrosial presence.
This idea of Krishna being the supreme divine has been beautifully narrated in this Hoysala bronze statute, depicting the divine Lord in his childhood form, enthroned on the coils of Adishesha, the serpent of Vishnu.
Krishna is adorned dotingly, with his Moramukuta and a charming smile adding to his celestial aura, with a ladoo in his hand, hinting at his divine play or Lila as Laddo Gopal, where he relishes on the tasty sweets made by his mother, just like an ordinary child. Contrasting to his innocent form is his mount and throne Shehsa, who belongs to the great preserver Vishnu and symbolizes the eternal time which is and will be before and after the Universe.
This paradox of the throne and the enthroned, Shesha and the adorable child-God, is to emphasize the divinity of Krishna, who is ever-powerful and engaged in his actions as the preserver, taking a morsel of the sweet Ladoo and bestowing upon the world his sweetness for eternity.
