सर्वमंगल मांगल्ये शिवे सर्वार्थ साधिके

शरण्ये त्र्यम्बके गौरि नारायणि नमोस्तुते

In this verse from the Durga Saptashati, the supreme goddess is revered as “Narayani”. A lesser-known aspect of Devi, Narayani is worshipped as the Shakti of Narayana, the Yogamaya, an emanation of Lalita-Tripurasundari and a part of the army of goddesses with Devi Durga.

Carrying the attributes of Vishnu and adorned with Vaishnava marks- Kiritamukuta crown, floral garland, Kritimukha emblem ornament and standing in a graceful pose, Narayani in this 5 feet large granite sculpture is a rare and divine sight.

The youthful form of Devi Narayani is beautifully sculpted, with a meditative stillness on her face, and suppleness in her body, embellished with exquisitely carved jewelry inspired by ancient temple art of Southern India.

The already awe-inspiring large sculpture of the goddess, becomes commanding by the rare Suchi-mudra, a gesture of showing the index finger (usually to the enemy), as a sign of warning. This dominant attitude of the divine goddess reminds one of her presence on the battlefield, as one of the chief warriors with Durga, as well as the embodiment of the strength of the mighty preserver Vishnu.

Standing on a bloomed lotus that symbolizes the origin of the Universe, goddess Narayani who appears to be brimming with a restrained vigor, makes this granite sculpture a rare and aesthetically perfect piece of sacred art.
