Goddess Andal or Goda Devi is the venerated Alwar Saint of the Sri Vaishnava Sect (Sampradaya). Andal is the only female poet saint among the twelve canonical Alwars (Alwar is a tamil term that means “Someone who is immersed in Bhakti), who composed thirty blissful devotional hymns known as Thiruppavai and Nachiyar Thirumoli. It is believed that She is the incarnation of Bhudevi (Sri Lakshmi and Mother Earth), who is adored and revered by the majority of Dakshin Bharatiya Hindu Dharma practitioners, particularly Vaishnavas.
Goddess Andal, ethereal on her lotus pedestal, embodies divine grace. Regally adorned, her celestial attire weaves tales of elegance. Her hair, a celestial cascade, is artfully ensconced with jasmine blooms and opulent jewels. The divine paragon clasps a parrot, a vibrant muse, in her left hand. This magnificent bronze creation signifies Andal’s embodiment of both earthly and divine love, a metaphorical union with the divine through her passionate verses.
