Dhanvantri is the deity of medicine and an avatar of Lord Maha vishnu. He is the God of Ayurveda as mentioned in Puranas.
Dhanvantri is handsome and has four hands with one of them holding Amrit Kalash (Pot of Nectar) which he saved during Samudra Manthan (ocean churning) in the beginning of creation. Along with the shankha and chakra in his upper two hands, he also holds leech in his other lower hand.
Here as depicted in the sculpture, there are some shlokas devoted to the origin of Lord Shri Dhanvantri who is standing on a lotus pedestal while adorned in transcendental jewels and garments.
