Annapurna- she who fulfills (purna) the human need for nourishment (through anna or foodgrain), is a divinely benevolent aspect of the supreme mother goddess. She is revered by her devotees to ensure her nurturing presence in life, which protects them from disease, hunger, and negative energies that weaken the body. In this brass statue, Maa Annapurna appears in her characteristic form, wrapped in a beautiful saree, wearing queenly ornaments and a crown, and seated on a lotus throne. In her hand is the bowl and the ladle with which she distributes her sweet Prasada, and on her countenance is a blissful smile, which invigorates the body as well as the mind of the Bhakta.
