Maheshwari- the supreme goddess is an aspect of the primordial mother, also known as “Mahamaya” and “Bhuwaneshwari”- the queen of the Universe.
These 4 feet large granite statues represent the potent aspect of Maheshwari, holding Paasha (noose), ankusha (goad), Gada (mace) and raising her right hand in a gesture of holding the Chakra (discus)- weapons to annihilate evil and protect the residents of the cosmos.
With intricate carvings, the ornaments and attire of the goddess are delineated. The fine details underline the tedious handiwork of the sculptor, who etches fine lines in hard granite to reveal the sculptures.
