The Supreme goddess in her fierce form slashed a notorious demon and all was well once again in the human realm. The fury that was within the warrior goddess took the form of a child, who was nurtured by his mother. This child went on to become Bhairava. This is one of the many origin stories of the terrifying Bhairava, also considered a fragment of Lord Shiva’s Shakti.
In this striking brass wall hanging, Bhairava appears as a man, with protruding teeth and tongue, wide eyes, and horns emerging out of his head. When it comes to his devotees, the enraged Bhairava acts as a guardian deity. His images, similar to this fine brass wall hanging, are placed in the home to obtain his blessings.
