This Garuda Deepam is blessed with an image of Garuda, Lord Vishnu's great Vahana or mount, set over a votive candle. These lamps are primarily built for Vahana aarti, where it is thought that placing an image of the Vahana alongside the lamp produces a picture of the devotee in the shape of the Vahana praying to the Almighty. The lamp has a classic dark brown patina. The oil bowl is leaf-shaped and rests on one of Garuda's hands. On the other hand, the Garuda carries a bell. A Yali may also be found at the front bottom of the lamp, supporting the Garuda. This lamp is an auspicious ceremonial artifact that may aid in bringing Lord Vishnu's blessings.
