31" Superfine Goddess Lakshmi Seated on Saptalakshmi and Kirtimukha Prabhawali Throne (Ashtalakshmi) - Hoysala Art

$3295

Bejeweled luxuriously in gold ornaments all over the body; goddess Lakshmi is decorated with multiple necklaces around her laboriously carved slender neck and a super long jewel garland veiling her body from top to bottom.

Zoom in to the realistic curve of her waist which is part covered by the round pendant of her necklace. The large kundals and the bracelets on her hand complement with the traditional and beautiful carvings of her stylized throne.

Goddess Lakshmi is revered in Hindu culture as the bestower of wealth, power, luxury and beauty and here she sits in lalitasana on a lavishly carved double lotus pedestal, garbed in a charmingly chiseled dhoti in floral patterns, a kamarband that has its long fan hung in the front along with a matching blouse that fits perfect on her chest.

Each and every adornment and curve of her body highlights the graciousness of Lakshmi mata. Chaturbhuja has her anterior hands postured in a mudra of granting boon of bravery, protection and love while the posterior hands hold two full bloom lotuses each in her hands.

Not only is the goddess herself, even the lavish throne she sits on, is carved in extreme ethnic beauty focusing on the carver’s professional skills and creativity. The three layered pedestal is carved in ethnic twists and turns giving a touch of floral panel and the long Kirtimukha prabhavali has Mughal carved pillars and the semi-circular top carved in a Saptalakshmi panel.

All the seven forms of goddess Lakshmi are enclosed in a circular ring, settled on a blooming lotus and are depicted in their basic iconography. The inner border is ethnically carved having small elephants chiseled all along, signifying her as Gajalakshmi. The long stylish multilayered crown of goddess Lakshmi and the large designer aureole have their designs manifested from the traditional Hoysala art. This Ashtalakshmi sculpture is a great ornamentation to decorate your house, office or hotel interiors.
