Smilingly pleasingly, seated in Veerasana (hero’s pose), with his hands in Namaskara Mudra, the Lord appears in this granite statue as “Bhakta-Hanuman”, a representation of his divine devotion and an icon established in temples of Sri Vishnu as a symbol and source of the virtue of surrender.
His well-built body is beautifully sculpted, with fine ornamentations adorning him.
Hanuman wears a tiara-like crown and has a shaven head, attributes associated with his youthful aspect.
A Vaishnava tilak on Hanuman’s forehead marks his allegiance to Vishnu’s avatars. Hanuman wears a short dhoti, exquisitely detailed with symmetrical lines etched all over.
The statue is carved in a rounded manner, and the polished halo of Hanuman, his lithesome tail forming a beautiful curve, the bell adorning it, and his garment, are realistically chiseled, an example of the finesse of the sculptors, whose handiwork evokes the divine presence of Hanuman in the hard granite stone.
