A puja kalash is one of the most important ritual items required for a puja ceremony of any Hindu god or goddess as it represents Shakti or the feminine power.
The one shown here is richly carved from the centre covering the entire extended surface area in a beautiful pattern of flowers and vines, all connected together forming a garden of flowers.
Kalash has a carving of goddess Lakshmi blessing her devotees on all the four sides. This Lakshmi brass kalash is moulded in perfect shape with a dual layered base to maintain balance and the brim is decorated with a two layered precisely chiselled border.
This brass ritual pot represents the container of fertility which nurtures and nourishes life. As you look at the top, you will be amazed by the stylized bent of mango leaves all over the brim of the kalash.
These mango leaves represent Kama, the god of love and symbolize the pleasure aspect of fertility. A puja kalash is always complete with a coconut at the top, sculpted here with a pointed top and etched with realistic striations all over. This coconut is like the cash crop, representing prosperity and power.
When you perform puja rituals, this kalash is filled with water, which is believed to be the amrita (elixir of life) and represents wisdom, immortality and abundance. After the ritual is finished, you can sprinkle that water in the entire house for a peaceful and happy going environment.
