The five Dhyani Buddhas are visualized in tantric meditation in their transcendental form as icons of Mahayana Buddhism. These Buddhas namely, Vairochana, Akshobhya, Ratnasombhava, Amitabha and Amogasiddhi represent the five celestial elements- space, water, earth, fire and air respectively.

A conch or a shankha symbolizes Buddha’s beautiful and resonant voice through which he introduced dharma to his followers. Presence of these jinas (Dhyani Buddhas) on this ritualistic conch in their meditating hand gestures or mudras conveys their individualistic appropriate teachings.

This conch, also called ‘dung dkar’ in Tibet is carved with extreme sincerity and uniqueness with a hole at the end so that it can be blown as a kind of a trumpet. The distinctiveness is the extremely chiseled Buddhist gods and accurate lotus leaf layers at the top highlighting its purity and serenity.
