Lakshmi also known as “Shri” is the goddess of wealth, beauty, fortune, fertility and prosperity. Dressed in a rich and ornate attire, she is standing on a lotus pedestal podium with four hands, representing the four goals of life: Kama, Artha, dharma and moksha. Carrying a lotus in each of her two hands at the back, she is symbolising knowledge, self-realisation, and liberation. Lakshmi’s front right hand displays Abhay Mudra (fear not gesture), representing peace and dispelling of fear while her left hand is in Varada mudra, demonstrating compassion, charity and sincerity. She is depicted wearing a crown and heavy jewellery such as necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and anklets, signifying her status as the goddess of wealth and fortune. It is said that chanting goddess Lakshmi mantra helps in achieving success in all ventures of life.
