25" Goddess Mariamman Idol on Sheshnag Throne | Wooden Statue

$760

Mariamman, the rain-bringing mother, is a powerful goddess of South India, worshipped as the Dakshina Durga or Durga of the South in Tamil shrines and Shakta tradition. She is a hybrid of the divine energies of Hindu deities like Durga and Kali, as well as the powers of native mother goddesses. Maa Mariamman appears in this holy wooden figure as Chaturbhuja, or the four-armed form, enthroned on a lotus, clutching a skull cup, a noose, a Trishula, and the Abhaya mudra, or gesture of fearlessness.

She is adorned with a regal crown, a Tripunda mark on her forehead, ornate necklaces, and tasseled belts and sits on a throne of serpent coils, shaded by the hoods of a five-headed Naaga.
