This Pradosh Moorty bronze statue of Shiva and Parvati, magnificently enthroned on the back of the joyful one "Nandi," is a unique form of the divine pair, worshiped by Shaivas during the Pradosha Vrata, which takes place on the Trayodashi of the lunar fortnight and is one of the most auspicious times to gain the benevolence of Shiva and Shakti.
Shiva and Parvati, both beautifully decorated, are surrounded by a stylized aureole with fiery edges that symbolize purifying energy or Shakti that emerges from the union of Shiva-Shakti.
Nandi adorned by Tripunda on his forehead, reign threaded in his nose, necklaces, and bell hanging around his naturalistically delineated neck, ornament of Ghungroo around his body, and patterned cloth and motifs on his body carry a devout and sacred air. Like a child joyous by the arrival of his parents, Nandi pleasingly smacks his lips with his tongue, bringing a sudden animation to the deific stillness of Shiva-Parvati, adding a sense of motion to the image as if the heavenly mount has just arrived on the pedestal with Uma-Maheshwara.
