The Shakti or feminine energy, the primordial mother, Devi Parvati is the counterpart of Adideva Shiva, accompanying him eternally in making the wheel of time or Kaala-chakra move. The movement of Shakti in Srishti or creation causes origin, life, and its end. In this wooden statue, the divine movement of Shakti is celebrated, depicting goddess Parvati in dance, which is the most sacred expression of activity and movement in Indian philosophy.
Devi Parvati strikes a stunning pose, holding a conch and discus, which are attributes associated with her form as Durga. Her primary hands make the gesture of Abhaya and Varada- dispelling fear and bestowing boons. Nurtured by Shakti, nature blooms around goddess Parvati, in the stylized vegetation that surrounds the goddess.
