Mashals, or Masbals, are temple torches burned during festivals and theatrical performances. The lamp's structure is simple, with the main body made of brass or copper and a container shape with an extended handle. In the center is a stigma (the central stem of a flower) shaped like a rod, around which the fabric is wrapped and burned. The rod would be maintained to create a long flame illuminating the road or a larger region. This lantern type has a lengthy history and may be seen in old battle legends. These lanterns, frequently employed as pathfinders during night trips, are everlasting witnesses of the various adventures held under the stars.
