When the Ksheer Sagar was churned by Suras and Asuras, a number of magical, divine, and precious items emerged from the depths of the ocean. Among these things was the cow Kamadhenu, revered in Hinduism as a maternal figure, capable of giving boons that help one beyond the realm of the living.
