A manifestation of Hanuman as the Rudra-avatar and the supreme being, Panchamukhi Anjaneya is the most potent form of the Hindu god.
With the heads of Jambavanta (a bear), Varaha (a boar), Hayagriva (a horse), and Garuda (on the back), Panchamukhi Anjaneya is a powerful representation of Hanuman that is common in South Indian Vaishnava temples.
This is known as Dashabhuja, or the ten-arm divine, which is connected to the highest manifestations of Hindu gods and goddesses.
Anjaneya is adorned with a two-stringed Yajnopavita, a pearl necklace, globular earrings, and a tasseled dhoti that is wrapped over his strong feet. On the back of the statue, the suppleness of Hanuman's tail is seen as it curls artistically above his crown. Covered in an antique green patina, this bronze statue represents the peak of Chola metal art.
