The dance of Shiva is an ancient symbol of divine activity and cosmic motion in Hinduism. In this wooden statue, instead of the more popular Nataraja or the Lord of Dance iconography, Shiva strikes a unique and graceful dancing pose, lifting his right leg in the air. Shiva is in his Pashupati form, holding the goad (ankusha), Pashu (antelope or deer), and the gesture of giving boons and removing fear.
