In this mesmerising dance (Tandava), Lord Nataraja, “also known as Adallvalan”, “the Lord of Dance”, graces us with his divine presence. Nataraja stands on a lotus pedestal, a symbol of purity and enlightenment. His upper hands hold a “Damaru”, the cosmic drum, and “Agni”, “the fire”, representing the dual forces of creation and destruction. His right hand with open palm offers the “Abhaya Mudra, assuring protection and fearlessness. His form is adorned with coiled serpents, signifying his mastery of primal forces. The lower left hand crosses his chest, veiling his heart, and points toward his raised foot, symbolising peace and salvation. Beneath Shiva's graceful dance, his right foot firmly crushes “Apasmara Purusha”, the dwarf demon representing illusion and ignorance. This artwork, crafted in brass, signifies the eternal dance of creation and destruction, the triumph of enlightenment over ignorance.
