See It In Your Home
The realistic double lotus pedestal carved with sacred signs and symbols is purified by the presence of goddess Lakshmi on it in her lalitasana posture. She is depicted as the goddess of wealth, fortune, power and beauty in the Vedas. Lakshmi means lakshya (goal) and is said to visit only those houses that are clean and where people are hardworking and pure at heart.
Her four hands are symbolic of the four purusharthas namely, dharma (righteousness), artha (wealth), kama (pleasures of the flesh) and moksha (beatitude). As the name says, Padma or Kamala, she is very well connected with lotus, therefore, she carries two full grown lotuses in each of her rear hands; right front is in a gesture of granting boon, whilst the left one is shown with cascades of gold coins flowing out and is garbed in a beautiful sari that has beautious self carved patterns.
Apart from the basics, the most antique part is the sculpted way of her jewels. She is adorned in multiple necklaces of varied sizes and styles along with matching long jhumkis and a three-layered large ethnic neckpiece that falls at her feet and veils her like a newly wedded bride. The large halo with outgrown leaves glorifies her temple shaped crown that has a large gumbad towards the top. Sight of her face and her gestures is enchanting and one of a kind.
