15" Brass Ayyappan Throne with Stairs

$345

This Brass Ayyappan Throne with Stairs is profoundly significant in Hindu tradition. The intricately designed throne features a kirtimukha prabhavali, symbolizing auspiciousness and divine protection.

The eighteen steps leading to the throne hold immense importance, representing the sacred Pathinettam Padi leading to the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple. The first five steps reflect the five human senses (Panchendriyas): vision (eye), hearing (ears), smell (nose), taste (mouth), and touch (skin).

The following phases reflect the eight Ashtaragas: Kama (Love), Krodha (Anger), Lobha (Avarice), Moha (Lust), Madha (Pride), Maltsarya (Unhealthy Competition), Asooya (Jealousy), and Dhumb (Boastfulness).

The last three phases symbolize three Gunas or Thrigunas (naturally occurring qualities): Satva (perspicuity, discernment), Rajas (activity, enjoyment), and Thamas (inactivity, stupor).

The final levels are Vidya (Knowledge) and Avidya (Ignorance). There are 18 Puranas, 18 Mountains, 18 Ayudhams, 18 Siddhas, 18 Devatas, and 18 Gunas related to the 18 Steps. Devotees climb these eighteen steps, each step signifying a specific virtue or discipline essential for spiritual growth.

The symbolism underscores the spiritual journey and self-discipline required to attain the blessings of Lord Ayyappa. The throne, with its divine design and connection to the sacred eighteen steps, becomes a revered representation of devotion and spiritual ascension.
