13" Lord Shiva as Sharabha Subduing Narasimha | Bronze Statue

$1260

Sharabheshvaramurti is a Lila of Shiva revered in Hindu texts and art, where the Lord of Destruction took upon the task of halting Vishnu’s fierce Narasimha roopa.

Upon annhalating Hiranyakashyapu, Narasimha’s wrath was unstoppable, and the world felt its ferociousness.

To bring Narasimha to Vishnu swaroopa, Shiva took a bewildering, mammoth form of eight-legged, winged, lion-faced creature, whose wings fluttered to cause awe and fear in the heart of the audience.

The rare bronze composition presents the scene of Sharabha holding Narasimha in his clutches, as he roars victoriously.

With his tongue out, eyes widened and teeth protruding, Sharabha mirrors the appearance of Narasimha, with a beautiful Jatamukuta with crescent, Pashu, noose, serpent, and fire (attributes of regulating and controlling), reminding us that the unbelievable being is Shiva. Narasimha too appears in a unique eight-armed roopa, holding his attributes while his two hands are joined in Namaskar mudra, a gesture of surrender.
