Because it is located on the top of the temple, this Pooja Kalasam is also known as a Temple Kalasam or Gopuram Kalasam. It is a grouping of designed Kalasams or sacred pitchers stacked on top of each other to form a whole shape that is put on top of temples. Each Kalasam consists of rice, salt, ragi, millet, corn, maize, and sesame. The grains are replenished every 12 years. This Kalasam is made of copper, and the pitchers are positioned following ancient temple building requirements. A temple kalasam is significant in temples because it is thought to resist harmful energies and act as a protector.
