Brimming with youth and feminine grace, the pot bearer in this bronze statue is the picture of Saundarya (beauty) that is the muse of great artists. On a lotus pedestal, the supple body of the lady is positioned, striking a lovely pose, holding the pot of water on her curving waist, and carrying a fresh blossom in her right hand. Her luscious locks are tied in a traditional bun, which is adorned with hair ornaments such as Sun and Moon shaped pins and jeweled Maatha-patti or hair band. The rest of her ornamentation too displays the rich cultural heritage of Southern India.
The statue sculpted in a rounded manner, depicts a hint of a smile on the maiden’s face and a slight bend of her right knee, adding a sense of movement to the icon, making it an aesthetically superb example of Panchaloha artwork.
