Towering above the human realm, this magnificent granite sculpture of Lord Hanuman, almost 10 feet high, is a Darshana of his “Bheema Roopa”- the awe-inspiring and powerful form in which he destroys evil and guards the Universe as mentioned in the sacred Hanuman-Chalisa.
Adorned by a halo of his curled hair that seems to be swaying with wind, adding a liveliness to the sculpture, Hanuman wears a Tilak, crown, necklaces, garland, and a beautifully delineated short dhoti.
His tail, embellished with a bell that jingles as Hanuman lunges to fulfill the tasks for Rama, whose sound fills the heart of devotees with assurance and those of evil-doers with terror, passes between his firm legs and dangles over the lotus pedestal, marked with the Vaishnava symbols- conch, Tilak and discus.
Hanuman raises his hand in Abhaya mudra, with the other resting on his Gada. A blissful smile plays on his face and eyes, a reminder of the ease with which he vanquished the entire forces of Ravana, crossed the ocean in one jump, and flew with Dronagiri mountain.
If this form of the Lord is your protector, how could fear touch you?
