Among the many lamp types are Anasaka lights (without oil basins) and lamps without wicks. These anasaka lights are used for Deeparathi during the sixteen-step Shodasha Upchara. This brass lamp is a typical Shodash Upchar Lamp with a Kirtimukha arch and five openings in the back for putting ghee-dipped cotton wicks. In the center, a magnificently carved royal Moosaka or Moonjur sits beneath the Kirtimukha arch. Because of the presence of an image of the Vahana in front of the fire, creating the appearance that the Vahana is paying tribute to the god, these lamps are also known as Vahana Aarti.
