It is a tradition among Hindus to offer Jala (water) to Lord Surya, the Sun god every morning as a part of a daily ritual. Touches of yellow and orange in the background tell us that the lady dressed in pink and orange has perhaps taken a dip in the river in the morning, and is now worshipping Surya. The waves of the river and the bright shades in the painting, present to us a vigorous and auspicious image of Prataha-Kala (early morning).
