Krishna is the proprietor of everything and everyone in the Universe. Although He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, He appeared on the earth as an ordinary child to reciprocate love between Him and His devotees because He is the source of all pleasures. Krishna’s wonderful Vrindavan pastimes are always very enchanting for everyone to read and hear. Thus, whoever associates with Him in any way, gets the highest form of pleasure in return, and what to speak of His pure devotees who are always absorbed in His thoughts and engaged in His loving service unconditionally.
Tanjore paintings are famous for their special depiction of devotional icons and among them, Lord Krishna’s paintings receive the most love and admiration. Here, Krishna has been portrayed in His childhood form which is called “Navaneet form”. He is lying calmly on a big banyan tree leaf with its veins spreading in ecstasy. He is bedecked with several ornaments and adorned with a flower garland around His delicate shoulders and a peacock feather on His head. He very innocently holds His right leg with both of His hands and brings it towards His mouth in order to suck it. The soft and gentle smile on His moonlike face fills everyone’s life with joy and pure bliss. Activities of Krishna like this made Him even more attractive and lovable for all the residents of Vraja. Also, this painting has been embellished with pure gold (24 Karat) and precisely studded with sequences of red and green stones to enhance its aesthetic look.
