"The most beautiful in Three Realms" (Tripura Sundari), "the beautiful one" (Lalita), "queen of Kings" (Rajarajeshwari)- these names exalt the powers of the Adi-Shakti, manifesting herself as the powers of the trinity-Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva. Tripura Sundari, represented in this awe-inspiring watercolor painting, is one of the Dasha-Mahavidyas (10 Divine Wisdoms), revered in the Shakta tradition as cosmic forms of Mahashakti.
In the famous Lalita-Sahastranama, goddess Rajarajeshwari or Lalita-Tripurasundari is described as “seated on a royal throne, adorned with beautiful jewels and fortunate signs of a married woman, possessing a youthful form, a crescent moon on her head and a smile that allures Shiva himself.” Seated on a gold, gem-studded throne, Devi Tripura-Sundari glows like the sun, with whose light the universe shines.
