This image of Trimurti is a fusion of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, personifying union of the forces of creation, sustenance and destruction. Brahma was rajasic, active and energetic while Shiva was tamasic, passive and inert. What Brahma created, Shiva destroyed; what Siva destroyed, Brahma recreated. The two justified each other's existence. While Brahma was passionately involved in the creation of the world, Shiva was equally dispassionate about it, preferring to transcend its wiles and become an ascetic. Between Shiva and Brahma stood Vishnu, the cosmic saviour, always ensuring survival of the prevailing order. He was totally sattavic, constantly trying to create a balance between the aggressiveness of the creator and the regressiveness of the destroyer. The rajasic, tamasic and the sattavic together from this Trimurti.
The mauve and grey colour used in the faces are not the traditional colours. This combination of a traditional theme and contemporary colours is unique in the harmony that lie in the execution of this wonderful composition.
