A row of Rajasthani puppets, dangling across a raw brick wall. Possibly at a fair, given the embellished silks for sale hung above them. Every aspect of this watercolour bears visual hallmarks of Rajasthani aesthetics, including and especially the puppets as well as the style of fabrics.
Yellow, blue, crimson, and green - the puppets are colourfully dressed. Each of their attire are embellished with strips of shiny, silver-coloured silk that accentuate these vivid colours. There is a pair of puppets of each, a man and a woman, complete with turbans and long, flowing garments.
The strips of fabric hanging above the puppets’ heads are a staple of Rajasthani fashion. A wide variety of colours; shining embellishments, such as sequin and mirror; and pompoms in complementary colours.
